To celebrate the beginning of school we did an apple themed day where we had something apple with every meal, because for some reason apples are associated with school. I suppose it is also the first letter of the alphabet but we have no plans to continue eating through the alphabet. I would burn out of ideas and energy along about letter G.
I also took their picture and had them fill out a beginning of school sheet about themselves. Not surprising, they all (Moriah included) said their favorite thing to do was "play". I thought Matt was so cute saying his favorite number is 1,061. That's a big number for a little guy!
Bethany did her share of joining into the fun. When the boys were filling out their sheets, Moriah came over and spilled the pencil box. Bethany swooped in with that opportunity, grabbed a pencil and started drawing on the wall.
Yes, you're very talented.
Later as the boys were doing some math, Bethany went over to the school cabinet and pulled out some math for herself.
Good choice, little one.
Of course, no day of school would be complete with a dunce cap.

And you know I'm kidding. He has no idea what a dunce cap is, of course. He was quite proud of the "party hat" he made for our "first day of school party day".

How cute! The first day of school is so fun! Now, you do know the history behind the apple being associated with school, right? In the "old days" kids would bring an apple for their teacher on the first day of school as a gift!
Wow, you're so organized to have a first day of school! We lost Chloe's last book that we had 4 pages left in, so we just dived right into her 1st grade stuff without finishing her K. :)
That's a familiar looking abacus and the dunce/party hat looks quite similiar to a princess hat that my little girls made and love to wear. Don't tell your son.
