Can I go to Mars?

How did we learn to propel ourselves beyond our little earth into outer space? It was fascinating to learn about it at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. That place is really cool! We saw rockets, lots of BIG rockets. We saw actual footage of shuttle launches. We saw the control room used to launch Apollo 8, the first mission to successfully orbit the moon. We saw robots that they send to Mars to learn if humans could live there someday. It was all very fascinating.

"How did we get here? Why are we here? Are we alone?" They told us that NASA's research of outer space is being done to determine the answers to these questions. We were camping with our small group a couple weeks ago where our pastor challenged us to consider why the universe is so vast. He brought pictures that boggled our minds, including one where earth was just a very tiny little speck. Basically he said that God gave us such an incredible expanse of space so that we could begin to understand how incredible He is!

Both our camping trip and our visit with the astronauts have brought many fun questions from J.D. His little mind is trying very hard to understand those basic questions: "How did we get here? Why are we here?" And he really wants to go to Mars when he grows up.
