Thankfulness at home

We enjoyed a nice long Thanksgiving weekend here at home. Lane & JD made us a wonderful Thanksgiving feast of turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans and sweet potatoes. Matt & I even contributed by making homemade rolls. Quite yummy! When we sat down to our feast, Lane said, "Before we pray let's go around the table and say one thing we are thankful for." JD got really excited and asked to go first. So he got up from his chair and started walking around the table. I suppose he takes things quite literally. It was a cute idea and so we each walked around the table while we said what we were thankful for. Just may be a new holiday tradition for us!

JD informed us on Thanksgiving Day that he was really expecting to have pumpkin bars. You know don't you have those certain foods that you just have to have to make the holiday right? Like sloppy joes on Christmas Eve for me. We didn't realize that pumpkin bars were one of those things for JD with Thanksgiving. We had already made some weeks ago and didn't even occur to us to make them again. But Lane found a new pumpkin cake recipe that he wanted to try, so although it was several days after Thanksgiving, we did enjoy this awesome cake:

The rest of the weekend was spent on lots of household projects and a bit of shopping and eating out - I can only handle so much leftover turkey! And sleeping. Lots of sleeping for me. It's hard work growing a baby! I'm a terrible napper during the day, but as soon as the kids are in bed I basically collapse for like 10 hours each night. Now mind you, that is interrupted sleep. There is always at least one child waking at night, sometimes all three, and at least one trip to the restroom for me.

The boys worked hard on making us a new Christmas sign. They had a lot of fun working with their Dad, especially the painting part - they covered themselves and a cardboard box really well!

Our really big project of the weekend that took us several days to put together - not because it was too time consuming but only because we had to work in certain windows of time, like when Moriah was napping - was the kids' new swingset. Isn't it cool?! It has a glider, a baby swing, a buoy ball swing, a regular swing, a climbing wall, a fireman's pole, a climbing net, a climbing rope and a slide... They love it! Thanks so much to Nana for providing this for us.
